Press Release — AN/ALQ-213 Processor Upgrade
Terma North America (TNA) has been awarded a $4.7M contract by Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) to complete development of the AN/ALQ-213(V) Processor Upgrade (APU) for the US Air Force, Warner Robins Air Logistics Center. This award is part of an over $11M development program led by GTRI to significantly upgrade the processing capability of the ALQ-213. The ALQ-213 Countermeasures Management System, which began production for the USAF in 1997, is an embedded computer system that controls and integrates the A-10 and F-16 Block 30 survivability suites. Terma North America is responsible for hardware qualification, an open-architecture operating system, and application software. "When fielded, this upgrade will greatly enhance the survivability of U.S. A-10 and F-16 Block 30 fighters," says Ms Johanna Eliot, Manager, Air Force Programs. In addition to over 1,000 U.S. A-10 and F-16 aircraft, the ALQ-213 is installed on more than 700 international F-16s, C-130s, AH-64s, F-111s and CH-47s. The US Air Force APU production program is expected to commence in FY 2010 with upgrades fielding as early as 2011.
